Obama and the Second Amendment
Mood:  irritated

Barack Obama's Ten Point Plan to "Change" The Second Amendment

1) Ban use of firearms for home defense.

2) Pass Federal laws eliminating your Right-to-Carry.

3) Ban the manufacture, sale and possession of handguns.

4) Close down 90% of the gun shops in America.

5) Ban rifle ammunition commonly used for hunting and sport shooting.

6) Increase fedeal taxes on guns and ammunition by 500 percent.

7) Restore voting rights for five million criminals including those who have been convicted of using a gun to commit a violent crime.

8) Expand the Clinton semi-auto ban to include millions more firearms.

9) Mandate a government-issued license to purchase a firearm.

10) Appoint judges to the U.S. Supreme Court and Federal judiciary who share his views on the Second Amendment.

Welcome to socialism!  Welcome Obama's many 'Changes' and his secret agenda!  DON"T LET IT HAPPEN!

Nondiscriminatory

Just to show you that I don't discriminate,  here is something my dad sent me about Democrats.

_____________________________________________________

John Glenn (DEMOCRAT) said this ----- It should make us all think a little:

There were 39 combat related killings in

 Iraq in January. In the fair city
of

 Detroit there were 35 murders in the month of January. That's just one
American city, about as deadly as the entire war-torn country of

 Iraq

When some claim that President Bush shouldn't have started this war, tell
them the following:

FDR (DEMOCRAT) led us into World War II.

 Germany never attacked us; Japan
did. From 1941-1945, 450,000 lives were lost ... an average of 112,500 per
year

Truman (DEMOCRAT) finished that war and started one in

 Korea

 North Korea
never attacked us. From 1950-1953, 55,000 lives were lost ... an average of
18,334 per year.

John F. Kennedy (DEMOCRAT) started the

 Vietnam conflict in 1962.

 Vietnam
never attacked us.

Johnson (DEMOCRAT) turned

 Vietnam into a quagmire. From 1965-1975, 58,000
lives were lost ... an average of 5,800 per year.

Clinton (DEMOCRAT) went to war in

 Bosnia without UN or French consent.
Bosnia never attacked us. He was offered Osama bin Laden's head on a
platter
three times by

 Sudan and did nothing. Osama has attacked us on multiple
occasions.

This one is a fact that makes me mad:

In the years since terrorists attacked us, President Bush has liberated two
countries, crushed the Taliban, crippled al-Qaida, put nuclear

 inspectors in
Libya ,

 Iran , and,

 North Korea without firing a shot, and captured a
terrorist who slaughtered 300,000 of his own people.  And the Democrats are
complaining about how long the war is taking.

But Wait, There's more.

It took less time to take

 Iraq than it took Janet Reno (DEMOCRAT) to take
the Branch Davidian compound That was a 51-day operation.

We've been looking for evidence for chemical weapons in

 Iraq for less time
than it took Hillary Clinton (DEMOCRAT) to find the Rose law firm billing
records.

It took less time for the 3rd Infantry Division and the Marines to destroy
the

 Medina Republican Guard than it took Ted Kennedy to call the police
after his Oldsmobile sank at Chappaquiddick.

It took less time to take

 Iraq than it took to count the votes in

 Florida
!!!
Our Commander-In-Chief is doing a GREAT JOB! The Military morale is high!

The biased media hopes we are too ignorant to realize the facts.

But Wait ....There's more!

JOHN GLENN (on the Senate floor - January 26,

 2004)

Some people still don't understand why military personnel do what they do
for a living. This exchange between Senators John Glenn and Senator Howard
Metzenbaum is worth reading. Not only is it a pretty impressive impromptu
speech, but it's also a good example of one man's explanation of why
men and
women in the armed services do what they do for a

 living.

This IS a typical, though sad, example of what some who have never served
think of the military.

Senator Metzenbaum (speaking to Senator Glenn):

'How can you run for Senate when you've never held a real job?'

Senator Glenn (D-Ohio): 'I served 23 years in the United States Marine
Corps. I served through two wars. I flew 149 missions. My plane was hit by
anti-aircraft fire on 12 different occasions. I was in the space program. It
wasn't mycheckbook, Howard; it was my life on the line. It was not a
nine-to-five job, where I took time off to take the daily cash receipts to
the bank. I ask you to go with me, as I went the other day... to a
veteran's
hospital and look those men ... with their mangled bodies ... in the eye,
and tell THEM they didn't hold a job!

You go with me to the Space Program at NASA and go, as I have gone, to the
widows and orphans of Ed White, Gus Grissom and Roger Chaffee ... and you
look those kids in the eye and tell them that their DAD'S didn't hold a
job.

You go with me on Memorial Day and you stand in

 Arlington

 National Cemetery ,
where I have more friends buried than I'd like to remember, and you watch
those waving flags. You stand there, and you think about this nation, and
you have the gall to tell ME that those people didn't have a job?

What about Metzenbaum?  For those who don't remember During W.W.II, Howard
Metzenbaum was an attorney representing the Communist Party in the

 USA .

Now he's a Senator!

If you can read this, thank a teacher.  If you are reading it in English
thank a Veteran.

________________________________________________________

My dad is 90! He's been around and taught me a lot!  He knows his stuff!  He's also a diehard Republican which I hope he doesn't do a foolish thing and vote the party or the lesser evil of the two evils!

In my opinion, if you vote for Obama Bin Laden you either don't have a brain or are a commy pinko liberal Republican or Democrat!  If you are voting for McCain you are essentially voting Obama in.  They have the same views.  Now the geniuses out there will vote for Baldwin and Castle.  Voting for them will steer this country back to God and America's greatness!  Vote Constitution!

It's McCain's Turn

Not to be biased but here's some stuff on McCain that'll get you going.  From that sage from the airwaves....Rush Limbaugh!

'"If I am elected President, I assure you that in 2009 I will ask Congress to pass Comprehensive Immigration Reform." So declared John McCain on June 19 at a late-night closed-door meeting with "Hispanic leaders" in Chicago, according to a report on Michelle Malkin's website and by AP.  So much for McCain's recent "secure-the-border-first" assurances.  In this world, "Comprehensive Immigration Reform" means only one thing: amnesty.'

Democrats are continually on the wrong side of every major issue facing America....What ought to be boldly stated in this campaign, is: American people, it's time to stop putting your trust and hope in the federal government. They're not going to make your life better, because they can't.  You are in charge of you own life. You're much better equipped, you're much better also to solve your problems and overcome your obstacles than some bureaucrat is.  You do it. This is not a sin.  It's called individual responsibility - the route to greatness.

Liberalism erases any notion of individual responsibility.  Liberalism's mission is to create as many helpless victims, dependent on liberals, as possible.  Liberalism's job is to create ever more power for liberals, via the encroaching reach of the state.  Our first order of business should be to discredit big-government liberalism in the eyes of more and more Americans. Liberals and liberalism should be the continued target.

We have McCain, who is out there seeking as many Democrat votes as he can get.  He has no interest in building a conservative movement, or even touting Republican Party strength against Democrat weakness.

There will be serious challenges to economic prosperity if the Democrats get as much control as they seek.  State governments will be raising taxes as well.  Policy debacles based on the global warming hoax, with horrendous economic costs, are ahead.

It's called American exceptionalism.  American greatness, American exceptionalism, is all of us, not Washington.  We're the ones who make the country work.  We're the ones who get up every day and make the economy hum. They're the ones who put obstacles in our way.  Even when we have a friendly Administration, we still have obstacles in our way - encumbrances of previous policies that even our guys can't get rid of. Yet we always triumph, because we have the freesom, the energy, the ambition, the desire, the drive of Americans.  We will just need more of that, given what we face.

We'll just have to continue to make America great in spite of who happens to be leading the...country.  There are millions upon millions of people, you among them, working every day to make the country work.  At the same time, there are others scheming to take away what you've worked for - to give it away to others who haven't worked fo it, so that they will feel better about themselves.  We'll just have to work harder to overcome that.

Make no mistake: we will eliminate the present threat of virulent liberalism.  The current crop of leftists and their dreams of control will be defeated, and individual liberty will be restored and preserved.  We don't have an elected leadership in Washington that will stand up to the left now, but we will.  Meanwhile, we'll have to hold the line ourselves.  And we can; we're Americans.

Robin Williams For President

Robin Williams For President

If anyone has a plan for America Robin Williams is the man!  Here's that plan....

1) The US will apologize to the world for our 'interference' in their affairs, past and present.  You know, Hitler, Mussolini, Stalin, Tojo, Noriega, Milosovic, Hussein, and the rest of those 'good ole boys', we will never 'interfere' again.

2) We will withdraw our troops from all over the world, starting with Germany, South Korea, the Middle East, and the Philippines.  They don't want us there.  We would station troops at our borders.  No one allowed sneaking through holes in the fence.

3) All illegal aliens have 90 days to get their affairs together and leave.  We'll give them a free trip home.  After 90 days the remainder will be gathered up and deported immediately, regardless of whom or where they are.  They're illegal!!!  France will welcome them.

4) All future visitors will be thoroughly checked and limited to 90 days unless given a special permit!!!!  No one from a terrorist nation will be allowed in.  If you don't like it there, change it yourself and don't hide here.  Asylum would never be available to anyone.  We don't need any more cab drivers or 7-11 cashiers.

5) No foreign 'students' over age 21.  The older ones are the bombers.  If they don't attend classes, they get a 'D' and it's back to home baby.

6) The US will make a strong effort to become self-sufficient energy wise.  This will include developing nonpolluting sources of energy but will require a temporary drilling of oil in the Alaskan wilderness.  The caribou will have to cope for a while.

7) Offer Saudi Arabia and other oil producing countries $10 a barrel for their oil.  If they don't like it, we go somewhere else.  They can go somewhere else to sell their production. (About a week of the wells filling up the storage sites would be enough.)

8) If there is a famine or other natural catastrophe in the world, we will not 'interfere.' They can pray to Allah or whomever, for seeds, rain, cement or whatever they need.  Besides most of what we give them is stolen or given to the army.  The people who need it most get very little, if anything.

9) Ship the UN Headquarters to an isolated island someplace.  We don't need the spies and fair weather friends here.  Besides, the building would make a good homeless shelter or lockup for illegal aliens.

10) All Americans must go to charm and beauty school.  That way, no one can call us 'Ugly Americans' any longer.  The Language we speak is ENGLISH...learn it...or LEAVE...Now, isn't that a winner of a plan?

"The Statue of Liberty is no longer saying 'Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses.'  She's got a baseball bat and she's yelling, 'you want a piece of me?'"

You Think About That!

Until Next Time America!

More from Obama

People think that Obama is God's gift to the world.  I believe otherwise!  Here's evidence from Barack Obama's own words from his book, Dreams of My Father:

1) 'I ceased to advertise my mother's race at the age of 12 or 13, when I began to suspect that by doing so I was ingratiating myself with whites.'

2) 'I found solace in nursing a pervasive sense of grievance and animosity against my mother's race.'

3) 'There was something about him that made me wary, a little too sure of himself, maybe.  And white.'

4) 'It remained necessary to prove which side you were on, to show your loyalty to the black masses, to strike out and name names.'

5) 'I never emulate white men and brown men whose fates didn't speak to my own.  It was into my father's image, the black man, son of Africa, that I'd packed all the attributes I sought in myself, the attributes of Martin and Malcolm, DuBois and Mandela.'

Anf finally, the most damaging one of ALL of them!! From Audacity of Hope:

** 'I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.'

Anybody say AntiChrist!?

Reading the Bible with Obama

Here's a quote from Obama:

"Democracy demands that the religiously motivated translate their concerns into universal (huh?), rather than religion-specific, values (and what's wrong with that!). It requires that their proposals be subject to argument, and amenable to reason. (What about religion-specific is not reasonable?!)  I may be opposed to abortion for religious reasons, but if I seek to pass a law banning the practice, I cannot simply point to the teachings of my church (and what church is that Mr. Obama?) or evoke God's will. (God's will is absolute! You're saying that the teachings of your church are not absolute?  What god do you worship Mr. Obama?)  I have to explain why abortion violates some principle (I call this the Ten Commandments of God) that is accessible to people of all faiths, including those with no faith at all."  Christianity Today posted 6/30/2008

Those in bold are my comments!

And you want him to be president????

The Energy Situation and Obama - Oh Boy!

For those who want Obama as President?  Have a happy couple of winters while he's in office (God forbid he should win - stupid!):

For your enlightenment!

OBAMA SAYS: "We can't drive our SUVs and eat as much as we want and keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times... and then just expect that other countries are going to say OK.... That's not leadership. That's not going to happen."

-Senator Barack Obama, Campaign Speech, May 2008-

That's Barack Hussein Obama's solution to the high price of gasoline... that's his energy policy -- in his own words!

In other words, Obama's energy policy is for you to eat less, drive a small death-trap of a car and let your family freeze in the winter.

Or to put it another way, it's the same old elitist liberal gobbledygook.  The problem is NOT that you are being forced to pay over $4.00 for a gallon of gasoline at the pump... the problem is NOT that your family is facing the prospect of a long cold winter because of rising energy costs... the problem is NOT that you're paying insanely high prices for food at the grocery store because of rising energy costs.

The problem is "bitter" folks like YOU that "cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like [you]" AREN'T SUFFERING ENOUGH!  If you just suffered MORE, then maybe you wouldn't be "apathetic" or "cling to guns or religion."

Let's increase suffering in America! Let's conserve and save energy so China and other countries can have more.  After all, THEY DESERVE IT... we don't.  The United States of America is nothing more than a rich and arrogant nation whose day in the sun has passed!

And just MAYBE -- once we realized the folly of our evil and despicable ways -- third-world dictators and petty tyrants around the world will start to like us!

Does this kind of liberal hate-America arrogance remind you of Jimmy Carter?

In the 70's when we waited in long lines for hours to get our ration of gasoline in the summer and watched our families freeze in the winter, Jimmy Carter told us to lower our thermostats and put on a sweater. Essentially he told us to get used to the fact that the United States of America was no longer a great nation!

The Wall Street Journal apparently saw the parallels:

"For a candidate claiming the mantle of 'change,' Mr. Obama's energy policy might as well have been drafted in the 1970s. He supports punitive new windfall profits taxes on Big Oil, which won't do anything for supply; as well as at least $10 billion a year in new subsidies for 'alternative' energy technologies, which may take years or decades to pan out, if they ever do."

Here's the problem:

If President George W. Bush or some other conservative made such an arrogant statement which -- in my opinion (and I'm sure in yours too) -- shows a deep-seated undercurrent of disdain for the American way of life, it would be on the front page of the New York Times and the lead story on every major television network.

But President Bush didn't make that statement... Barack Hussein Obama did and the media is SILENT!  The vast majority of Americans (Republicans, Democrats and Independents) will NEVER KNOW HE UTTERED THOSE WORDS!

Now...Who do you really want to lead this country.  Sounds like the Anti-Christ to me!  Have a great day!

Selah.  You Think About That!

Until Next Time America!

John McCain and His Record

It's John McCain's turn!  I think he'll be wishy washy due to his record.  He does the ol' switch-er-rooh to get votes, just like Obama!  Ann Coulter, in her HumanEvents.com article of 7/2/2008 clearly shows her disfavor for McCain as well.  Enjoy!

McCain: Pump This!
Well, I guess we're all pretty relieved we didn't drill in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge back in 2002. What a disaster that would have been.

The vote on ANWR was almost entirely along partisan lines, with all Republicans, except a handful of "moderates," voting for drilling, and all Democrats, except a handful of sane Democrats like Zell Miller, voting against drilling.

John McCain opposed drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge because he polled soccer moms and found out they were against drilling. They thought it sounded too much like going to the dentist. McCain wanted to ensure that he remained beloved by the two pillars of his base: "centrists" and New York Times reporters.
Sponsored Links:

Even Sen. Chuck Hagel voted for drilling in ANWR. But John McCain, "our" candidate, voted against it.

I guess we're beginning to see the problem of basing a political platform on the passing fancies of "centrists." These are people who have no opinions because they know nothing about national issues. They're the ones who check the "not sure/no opinion" box on polls regarding the legalization of cannibalism.

You can't blame them: They're not being paid to know something about national issues. Those people we call "senators" and "representatives."

But now, astronomical gas prices have forced even soccer moms to spend 10 minutes looking at a problem that their leaders were supposed to be thinking about for years. And the soccer moms are saying: Drill! Drill! Drill! Bobby, come down off of there! Stop hitting your sister! Where was I? Oh, yeah ... Drill! Drill! Drill!

Consequently, McCain recently switched his position to go along with the centrists. See, that's the downside of having chosen all your political positions by polling centrists: The moment they acquire any knowledge, they'll realize you're an idiot.

It's always the same argument. Year after year, the "moderate Republicans" so respected at The New York Times harangue us to dump the Christians, the conservatives, the Swift Boat Veterans, the "right-wing extremists," the gun-and-God clingers and the fanatical pro-lifers from our party so we can repel every American who voted for Ronald Reagan in order to win the votes of people like Christine Todd Whitman.

Yes, by all means let's clear out all that deadwood and pave the way for a 49-state landslide! (For the Democrats.)

McCain followed the Times' strategy to a T. He called Jerry Falwell an "agent of intolerance." He called the Swift Boat Veterans "dishonest and dishonorable." He has denounced every Christian minister who tries to endorse him. Over the years, McCain has ostentatiously attacked every issue of importance to conservatives and embraced every crackpot liberal idea, including the left's latest plan to exterminate the human race, called "global warming."

Two weeks ago, McCain skipped the capitol prayer breakfast in California, instead appearing with Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger at an environmental event in nearby Santa Barbara. Schwarzenegger's absence marked the first time a governor skipped what has come to be known as "the governor's prayer breakfast." I guess in the world of moderate Republicans an environmental event qualifies as a religious observance.

The keynote speaker at the breakfast, Hollywood producer Mark Joseph, quoted a recent cover article in Christianity Today by professors Daniel Taylor and Mark McCloskey that said:

"In premodern times, the courage of a leader often had to be physical. In the last 500 years it is more often moral. Moral courage is the ability to do what's right even when it is deeply unpopular, even dangerous. Courage is only found where there is the genuine possibility of loss -- loss of friends, reputation, status, power, possessions or, at the extremes, freedom or life."

No wonder McCain and Schwarzenegger skipped it.

Moderate Republicans like McCain have taken to heart liberals' admonition that Ronald Reagan's appeal had absolutely nothing to do with his conservative philosophy. Don't be like him! You'll lose the soccer moms! Liberals assure us that Reagan won landslide elections because Americans were mesmerized by his sunny disposition and corny jokes. If that's true, why isn't Al Roker president?

The irony is, the only people McCain can count on to vote for him are the very Republicans he despises -- at least those of us who can get drunk enough on Election Day to pull the lever for him. In fact, we should organize parties around the country where Republicans can get drunk so they can vote for McCain. We can pass out clothespins with his name as a reminder and slogan-festooned vomit bags. The East Coast parties can post the number of drinks necessary for the task to help the West Coast parties. For more information, go to getdrunkandvote4mccain.com.

Not being ignorant "centrists," we know what a world-class disaster B. Hussein Obama will be. Meanwhile, the centrists McCain spent years impressing with his outraged denunciations of conservatives, Swift Boat Veterans and Christians will be voting for Obama. They think he's cute.

How many times do we have to run this experiment?

Taking the advice of Democrats, Republicans ran "moderates" for president in 1944, 1948, 1976, 1992 and 1996. All lost. Republicans also ran a "moderate" for president in 1988, but that was unwittingly -- both to us and, fortunately, to the voters. In other words, in the language of the market, the best tip on "moderate Republicans" is: SELL!

But now, apparently, we have to run the experiment again. This year, moderate Republicans have hit the jackpot. John McCain is the Platonic ideal of a "moderate Republican."

To paraphrase Richard Nixon on George McGovern in 1972: Here we have a situation where moderate Republicans finally have a candidate who almost totally shares their views. Now we'll see what the country thinks.

Ann Coulter is Legal Affairs Correspondent for HUMAN EVENTS and author of "High Crimes and Misdemeanors," "Slander," ""How to Talk to a Liberal (If You Must)," "Godless," and most recently, "If Democrats Had Any Brains, They'd Be Republicans."

The above is credited to Ms. Ann Coulter.

Obama and the 2nd Amendment
Mood:  incredulous

With the upcoming elections, I've been trying to see exactly where the candidates (mainstream and other independent ones) stand on certain issues that face Americans and their freedoms guaranteed and dictated by the Constitution.  Recently I was reading in The Rifleman, the President's Column by John C. Sigler of the NRA. (Yes, I am a member and fully endorse the 2nd Amendment!) The title was 'Pretenders Dressed As Patriots' and the subject was Obama and his wishy washy flipflop over the issues. He was mentioning certain organizations that say they're for the 2nd Amendment but in reality they are lying and just want your vote!  He then mentions Obama and his stand on the 2nd Amendment.  Talk about confusing! I quote:

"If you're confused, concerned, confounded when a supposedly 'pro-gun' group endorses the same Obama who wants to ban all handguns, outlaw all semi-automatic firearms, shut down nearly every gun store in America and abolish 'Right-to-Carry' nationwide, you're not alone."

"Telling gun owners to vote for Obama is like telling chickens to vote for Colonel Sanders."

Mr. Sigler continues:

"As for self defense, Obama has been consistent and clear.  According to Obama, who touts himself as a former 'constitutional law professor.' the Second Amendment doesn't prevent Washington, D.C. and Chicago, Ill. from banning self-defense guns in citizen's homes."

This is insane.  You vote for Obama, you have no brain! No common sense at all!  A vote for Obama is a vote for Socialism, Communism, and Liberalism (Frankly they're all the same!).   Mr. Sigler concludes his article thusly:

"It is absolutely critical that you help to ensure that the freedoms for which our Founding Fathers fought so hard so long ago won't be stolen and destroyed by 'false-flag' organizations controlled by anti-gun politicians through election-year deception, obfuscation and subterfuge."

Amen!

Selah. (You think about that!)

Happy Birthday America (I wonder how long before the liberals complain about their rights on this one!)

Until Next Time America!

The World Today
Mood:  irritated
FOR YOUR THOUGHTS - NO MORE SLEEPING WHILE THE WORLD TAKES OVER!
TAKE YOUR TIME AND READ THIS A COUPLE OF TIMES TO LET THE FACTUAL TRUTH SINK IN, THIS ATTORNERY
WROTE THE MOST HONEST AND MEANINGFUL ARTICLE I'VE READ IN AWHILE.

 SOME OF YOU ARE NOT OLD ENOUGH TO REMEMBER THAT NEARLY EVERY FAMILY IN AMERICA WAS GROSSLY AFFECTED BY WW II .  MOST OF YOU DON'T REMEMBER THE RATIONING OF MEAT, SHOES, GASOLINE, AND SUGAR. NO TIRES FOR OUR AUTOMOBILES, AND A SPEED LIMIT OF 35 MILES AN HOUR ON THE ROAD, NOT TO MENTION, NO NEW AUTOMOBILES.  READ THIS AND THINK ABOUT HOW WE WOULD REACT TO BEING TAKE! N OVER BY FOREIGNERS IN 2008.

This is an EXCELLENT essay. Well thought out and presented.
Please read it all and think seriously about our future here on earth.  It is critical.
 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Historical Significance
Sixty-three years ago, Nazi
Germany had overrun almost all of Europe and hammered England to the verge of bankruptcy and defeat. The Nazis had sunk more than 400 British ships in their convoys between England and America taking food and war materials.
At that time the US was in an isolationist, pacifist mood, and most Americans wanted nothing to do with the European or the Asian war.
Then along came Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941, and in outrage Congress unanimously declared war on Japan, and the following day on Germany, who had not yet attacked us. It was a dicey thing. We had few allies.
France was not an ally, as the Vichy government of France quickly aligned itself with its German occupiers. Germany was certainly not an ally, as Hitler was intent on setting up a Thousand Year Reich in Europe.  Japan was not an ally, as it was well on its way to owning and controlling all of Asia.
Together, Japan and Germany
! had long-range plans of invading Canada and Mexico, as launching pads to get into the United States over our northern and southern borders, after they finished gaining control of Asia and Europe.
America's only allies then were England, Ireland, Scotland, Canada, Australia, and Russia. That was about it. All of Europe, from Norway to Italy (except Russia in the East) was already under the Nazi heel.
The US was certainly not prepared for war.  The US had drastically downgraded most of its military forces after WW I because of the depression, so that at the outbreak of WW II, Army units were training with broomsticks, because they didn't have guns, and cars with "tank" painted on the doors, because they didn't have real tanks.
  A huge chunk of our Navy had just been sunk or damaged at Pearl Harbor.
Britain had already gone bankrupt, saved only by the donation of $600 million in gold bullion in the Bank of England (that was actually the property of Belgium ) given by Belgium to England to carry on the war, when Belgium was overrun by Hitler (a little known fact).
Actually, Belgium surrendered after one day, because it was unable to oppose the German invasion, and the Germans bombed
Brussels into rubble the next day just to prove they could .
Britain had already been holding out for two years in the face of staggering losses and the near decimation of! its Royal Air Force in the Battle of Britain, and was saved from being overrun by Germany, only because Hitler made the mistake of thinking the Brit's were a relatively minor threat that could be dealt with later.  Hitler, first turned his attention to Russia, in the late summer of 1940, at a time when England was on the verge of collapse.
Ironically, Russia saved America's butt by putting up a desperate fight for two years, until the US got geared up to begin hammering away at Germany .
Russia lost something like 24,000,000 people in the sieges of Stalingrad and Moscow alone . . . 90% of them from cold and starvation, mostly civilians, but also more than a 1,000,000 soldiers.
Had Russia surrendered, Hitler would have been able to focus his entire war effort against the Brit's, then America.  If that had happened, the Nazis could possibly have won the war.
All of this has been brought out to illustrate that turning points in history are often dicey things.  Now, we find ourselves at another! one of those key moments in history.
There is a very dangerous minority in Islam that either has, or wants, and may soon have, the ability to deliver small nuclear, biological, or chemical weapons, almost anywhere in the world .
The Jihadist, the militant Muslims, are basically Nazis in Kaffiyahs -- they believe that Islam, a radically conservative form of Wahhabi Islam, should own and control the Middle East first, then Europe, then the world.  To them, all who do not bow to their will of thinking should be killed, enslaved, or subjugated . They want to finish the Holocaust, destroy Israel, and purge the world of Jews . This is their mantra. (goal)
There is also a civil war raging in the Middle East -- for the most part not a hot war, but a war of ideas.  Islam is having its Inquisition and its Reformation, but it is not yet known which side will win -- the Inquisitors, or the Reformationists.
If the Inquisition wins, then the Wahhabis, the Jihadist, will control the Middle East, the OPEC oil, and the US, European, and Asian economies.
The techno-industrial economies will be at the mercy of OPEC -- not an OPEC dominated by the educated, rational Saudis of today, but an OPEC dominated by the Jihadist.  Do you want gas in your car?  Do you want heating oil next winter?  Do you want the dollar to be worth anything?  You had better hope the Jihad, the Muslim Inquisition, loses, and the Islamic Reformation wins.
If the Reformation movement wins, that is, the moderate Muslims, who believe that Islam can respect and tolerate other religions, live in peace with the rest of the world, and move out of the 10th century into the 21st, then the troubles in the Middle East will eventually fade away.  A moderate and prosperous Middle East will emerge.
We have to help the Reformation win, and to do that we have to fight the Inquisition, i.e., the Wahhabi movement, the Jihad, Al Qaeda and the Islamic terrorist movements.  We have to do it somewhere.  We can't do it everywhere at once.  We have created a focal point for the battle at a time and place of our choosing .  . in Iraq. Not in New York, not in London, or Paris or Berlin, but in Iraq, where we are doing two important things.
(1) We deposed Saddam Hussein.  Whether Saddam Hussein was directly involved in the 9/11 terrorist attack or not, it is undisputed that Saddam has been actively supporting the terrorist movement for decades.  Saddam was a terrorist! Saddam was a weapon of mass destruction, responsible for the deaths of probably more than a 1,000,000 Iraqis and 2,000,000 Iranians.
(2) We created a battle, a confrontation, a flash point, with Islamic terrorism in Iraq. We have focused the battle. We are killing bad people, and the ones we get there, we won't have to get here. We also have a good shot at creating a democratic, peaceful Iraq, which will be a catalyst for democratic change in the rest of the Middle East, and an outpost for a stabilizing American military presence in the Middle East for as long as it is needed.
WW II, the war with the Japanese and German Nazis, really began with a "whimper" in 1928.  It did not begin with Pearl Harbor.  It began with the Japanese invasion of China.  It was a war for fourteen years before the US joined it.  It officially ended in 1945 -- a 17-year war -- and was followed by another decade of US occupation in Germany and Japan to get those countries reconstructed and running on their own again . a 27-year war.
WW II cost the United States an amount equal to approximately a full year's GDP -- adjusted for inflation, equal to about $12 trillion dollars.  WW II cost America more than 400,000 soldiers killed in action, and nearly 100,000 still missing in action.
The Iraq war has, so far, cost the United States about $160,000,000,000, which is roughly what the 9/11 terrorist attack cost New York.  It has also cost about 4,000 American lives, which is roughly equivalent to lives that the Jihad killed (within the United States) in the 9/11 terrorist attack .
The cost of not fighting and winning WW II would have been unimaginably greater -- a world dominated by Japanese Imperialism and German Nazism .
This is not a 60-Minutes TV show, or a 2-hour movie in which everything comes out okay .  The real world is not like that.  It is messy, uncertain, and sometimes bloody and ugly.  It always has been, and probably always will be.
The bottom line is that we will have to deal with Islamic terrorism until we defeat it, whenever that is.  It will not go away if we ignore it.
If the US can create a reasonably democratic and stable Iraq, then we have an ally, like England, in the Middle East, a platform, from which we can work to help modernize and moderate the Middle East.  The history of the world is the clash between the forces of relative civility and civilization, and the barbarians clamoring at the gates to conquer the world.
The Iraq War is merely another battle in this ancient and never ending war.  Now, for the first time ever,
the barbarians are about to get nuclear weapons.  Unless somebody prevents them from getting them! .
We have four options:
1 . We can defeat the Jihad now, before it gets nuclear weapons.
2 . We can fight the Jihad later, after it gets nuclear weapons (which may be as early as next year, if Iran's progress on nuclear weapons is what Iran claims it is).
3 . We can surrender to the Jihad an! d accept its dominance in the Middle East now; in Europe
 in the next few years or decades, and ultimately in America.
OR
4 . We can stand down now, and pick up the fight later, when the Jihad is more widespread and better armed, perhaps after the Jihad has dominated
France and Germany and possibly most of the rest of Europe.  It will, of course, be more dangerous, more expensive, and much bloodier.
If you oppose this war, I hope you like the idea that your children, or grandchildren, may live in an Islamic America under the Mullahs and the Sharia, an America that resembles Iran today.
The history of the world is the history of civilization clashes, cultural clashes.  All wars are about ideas, ideas about what society and civilization should be like, and the most determined always win.
Those who are willing to be the most ruthless always win. The pacifists always lose, because the anti-pacifists kill them .
Remember, perspective is everything, and America's schools teach too little history for perspective to be clear, especially in the young American mind.
The Cold War lasted from about 1947, at least until the Berlin Wall came down in 1989; forty-two years!
Europe spent the first half of the 19th century fighting Napoleon, and from 1870 to 1945 fighting Germany !
World War II began in 1928, lasted 17 years, plus a ten year occupation, and the US still has troops in Germany and Japan ..  World War II resulted in the death of more than 50,000,000 people, maybe more than 100,000,000 people, depending on which estimates you accept.
The US has taken more than 3,000 killed in action in Iraq.  The US took more than 4,000 killed in action on the morning of June 6, 1944, the first day of the Normandy Invasion to rid Europe of Nazi Imperialism.
In WW II, the
US averaged 2,000 KIA a week -- for four years.  Most of the individual battles of WW II lost more Americans than the entire Iraq war has done so far.
The stakes are at least as high . ! A world dominated by representative governments with civil rights, human rights, and personal freedoms . . or a world dominated by a radical Islamic Wahhabi movement, by the Jihad, under the Mullahs and the Sharia (Islamic law).
It's difficult to understand why the average American does not grasp this.  They favor human rights, civil rights, liberty and freedom, but evidently not for Iraqis.
"Peace Activists" always seem to demonstrate here in America, where it's safe.
Why don't we see Peace Activist demonstrating in Iran, Syria, Iraq, Sudan, North Korea, in the places that really need peace activism the most?  I'll tell you why! They would be killed!
The liberal mentality is supposed to favor human rights, civil rights, democracy, multiculturalism, diversity, etc., but if the Jihad wins, wherever the Jihad wins, it is the end of civil rights, human rights, democracy, multiculturalism, diversity, etc.
Americans who oppose the liberation of Iraq are coming down on the side of their own worst enemy!
